The top picture shows Aart's personal experiment with solar power:
one ICP Solar Technologies
BatterySAVER SE 18W panel and one 6W panel are linked together to feed
a Xantrex
XPower Powerpack 400 Plus. A 5.5mm OD x 2.5mm plug has been
connected to the ICP plug-and-play cable, so that the
power pack's internal charge regulation circuitry can be used.
One sunny summer day suffices to recharge an empty power pack
to 100%. The little white solar panel on top charges the
motion sensor light on the right.
Inspired by this free and environmently friendly energy, Renu and Aart decided to get a professional roof mounted solar system installed. The two pictures below show their 2.1KW system (12 x 175 Watt BP photovoltaic modules) with a Sunny Boy inverter. The system is connected to the PG&E grid, so that any surplus power can be sold back for an energy credit.
